Personally, I don't mind being unrealistic about how the round buns in her hair should actually look. I designed this character to have a recognizable silhouette at a glance, so her hair silhouette always shows both buns (similar to what happens with characters like Goku or Mickey Mouse).
But there's no need to stick to that silhouette if it doesn't fit the art style.
